The IUDMA provides a commitment to the history and perpetuation of Urban Dance forms throughout the world. People coming together to celebrate a series of art forms that transcend all language, generational and cultural barriers. It is something that means so much to so many around the world. This organization is where they can come together to exchange ideas, information and become one to move Urban Dance into the future.

Educating And Inspiring
Urban Dance today has evolved into many different variations. Most practitioners do not have any idea on the origins of the dance forms that make up what is known as Urban Dance. Many techniques have been lost to the masses because of misinformation that has been passed down for the past 40 years. This is one of the reasons that inspired the creation of the IUDMA.
There are millions of people worldwide who's lives have been touched in some way by Urban Dance. These individuals are searching out the true origins and history of these art forms. They want to celebrate the beauty and learn the lessons. They wish to share with other artists and enthusiasts to help to raise the level of consciousness about the arts. The IUDMA’s www.dancemaster.com has become a key tool for research to many educational institutes worldwide on the subject of Urban Culture and Pop American History. Membership continues to grow due to the integrity and quality of the information presented by the IUDMA.
 Making History
In 2007 the IUDMA celebrated a 40 years of Urban Dance. This was supported by the publishing of six new words in the American Heritage Dictionary in 2001. Those words are: Urban Dance, Locking, Popping, B-boying, Break and Rocking. This is the first time in history that these words have been recognized and are now a formal part of the English language. This was a nine year ordeal spearheaded and accomplished by IUDMA Sr Director Thomas Guzman-Sanchez.
In 1998 the IUDMA produced its first international tournament. Competitors came from all over the world to compete for world champion. The event featured the first Urban Dance World Record competition. The IUDMA is the only Urban Dance organization officially recognized by the Guinness Book Of World Records and has even been associate producers for the “Guinness World Record” television show. In 1996 the IUDMA and The Clockman Vision Company produced the controversial feature documentary “Underground Dance Masters: History Of A Forgotten Era”. Now in 2007 a final version of the film has been finished and will be released. This film is based on the Book of the same title written by Thomas Guzman-Sanchez.
Since 1996 this organization has created and led many programs for higher education and has worked with the (LAUSD) Los Angeles United School District and UCLA. In 2001 the organiztion offered the Urban Dance Training Camp that gives for the first time a direct experience with OG Dance Masters in an intensive learning environment. These efforts have offered students a more in depth study on a part of American pop history that has become a key part of youth culture.
 To Benefit Our Membership
The IUDMA has traveled all over the world hosting seminars and master workshops. Securing links with other organizations that have similar goals in regards to Urban Dance. From a two day special event at Carnegie Hall in NY to a 3 week series of master workshops through out France. This year we are offering the 2007 Urban Dance Training Camp. There will be a 5 day camp in June. After last years world wide response, this year will be an even more spiritual experience. All our members will be entitled to a discount on early registration for this event.
These type of events are for the benefit of our membership and the key to the future of the IUDMA.
